Jim Carrey and HealthAchieve: Newmarket, Scarborough and Burlington (all Ontario) can lay claim that Jim Carrey lived there. But never Port Perry. The eLetter should know better than to take issue with Dan Carriere. The CEO of Newmarket’s Southlake Regional Health Centre) made it clear that Newmarket is Carrey’s birthplace – not Port Perry. In our defense – at one point Jim Carrey and his family lived out of their car/trailer and its possible he may have once visited Port Perry. Carrey was suggested as a speaker at Health Achieve – he is another example of someone who lives with depression and has shared his comeback story. And we could use a little of his comic relief. If you have a speaker suggestion write eletter@longwoods.com. We will notify the producers at HealthAchieve 09.

The Canadian Health Services Research Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2009 Health Services Research Advancement Award. For more information please visit www.chsrf.ca.

When completed, hospital staff across 35 Ontario hospital sites will have real-time access to comprehensive patient information and the ability to access and utilize images and reports electronically.
