NEW BOOK | NEW INSIGHT
On September 8, The IRPP released the texts of three presentations delivered at the August 18 panel discussion on the realities of health care reform in Ontario and the implications for Canada, which marked the release of Riding the Third Rail: The Story of Ontario's Health Services Restructuring Commission, 1996-2000. Ian Urguhart of the Globe and Mail writes: “a new book out that should be required reading for Health Minister George Smitherman as the Queen's Park Liberals attempt to transform delivery of health care. . . an intriguing tale of the turf wars . . . encountered as they attempted to close and consolidate hospitals, shift the focus toward home and community care, reform primary care by grouping doctors together with other health professionals, and generally transform health care from a collection of "silos" into a truly interdependent system.” news release | texts of presentations.
