The research, academic and professional publishing sector has been joined in recent years by organizations funded by special interest foundations, institutes, universities and libraries. In addition, authors are charged a submission fee that is core to the viability of these online journals. We have reviewed these practices and prepared this position.

Longwoods does not charge authors, schools or institutes a fee to publish their papers. This avoids any conflict of interest between authors and editors/reviewers. Our readers do pay for the privilege and so we pay meticulous attention to their interests. We provide them with ideas, analysis, policies and best practices that have been subject to rigorous independent reviews.
