"When Thomas Edison worked late into the night on the electric light, he had to do it by gas lamp or candle. I'm sure it made the work seem that much more urgent." - George Carlin

Here is the official announcement:
Health Council of Canada Vice Chair Dr. Jeanne Besner has agreed to serve as interim Chair following the resignation of founding Chair Michael Decter More

Osgoode Hall Law School Professor Joan Gilmour has released in a 200-page report Entitled Patient Safety, Medical Error and Tort Law: An International Comparison that examines the role of tort (negligence) law and tort reform in facilitating and inhibiting efforts to reduce medical error and improve patient safety.  It focuses on Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand (the only one of the five countries to have a no-fault system for accident compensation).

Canadian organizations are much more concerned about a pandemic outbreak than they are prepared for one, according to the findings of a Conference Board of Canada survey (http://www.conferenceboard.ca/PPWG/) released to coincide with the launch of a new Pandemic Preparedness Working Group.

The Canadian Nurse Practitioner Initiative (CNPI) will release its final report today. Nurse Practitioners: The Time is Now lays out a framework that will facilitate the integration and sustainability of the nurse practitioner role in Canada's health system.  A PDF version of the report and media release will be available for download starting at 13:00 (EST) at www.cnpi.ca.
