Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International Releases Two New Publications

Ready, Set, Go Lead! A Primer for Emerging Health Care Leaders and Words of Wisdom Launch at Honor Society of Nursing’s Leadership Academy this Friday

Two new publications will be published by the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International -- Ready, Set, Go Lead! A Primer for Emerging Health Care Leaders and Words of Wisdom. The books will be launched Friday, 26 September, at the 2008 Sigma Theta Tau International Leadership Academy taking place at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis. Nearly 500 nurses from around the world will be in attendance.

Authored by former honor society CEO Nancy Dickenson-Hazard, RN, MSN, FAAN Ready, Set, Go Lead! is an introduction on leadership readiness for students and practicing nurses to assess their behaviors, adaptive competencies and preparedness to assume leadership roles. Each of the book’s 15 chapters includes the description of a leadership concept, followed by an illustrative story, assessment questions, and exercises for the reader.

Words of Wisdom, co-authored by Beth Houser, RN, DNSc, FNP-BC, CNAA, and Kathy Player, EdD, MBS, MS-NL, offers encouragement with inspiring messages and reflections for nurses who practice in different settings and at different leadership levels. Ten chapters in the book focus on the areas of career development, leadership, and renewal. Words of Wisdom will serve as a companion to the authors’ previously published books Pivotal Moments in Nursing, Volumes I and II.
